The first cellular network was developed by Sprint for cell phone owners. In 1993, the world get its first commercial smartphone by IBM, which was used to send and receive faxes. There were various types of telephones from tap dialling, candlestick phones, touch-tone phones, cordless phones. Over the years telephone has seen many changes. In 1931, the world’s first emergency service number came 999 in London, UK, which could only be dialled from the special police box. But the long-distance call is still not possible, until 1958. Soon, the phone started between London and Paris giving birth to overseas phone calls in 1891. The first phone call is done by Graham Bell to his assistant “Minster Watson, come here, I want to see you.” The first phone lines run between Boston and Somerville, Massachusetts. Invented back in mid-1800 by Alexander Graham Bell, the telephone is used for transmitting a message from one person to other. Without communication, we cannot not think of survival. Electronics and telecommunication play a prominent role in our life.
